The Important Things in Life!!

June 10, 2019

Hello Everyone this is RH,

I wanted to share something that really makes you look at whats really important in life.

This evening I was headed out the door to go take care of the chickens. As I was leaving River (our middle) child said to me " I want to go" and in the back of my mind I was thinking I can go get this done real quick and come back and spend time with him. Then I thought how I was when I was little and always wanted to go with my Dad and how much I enjoyed time with my Dad. So like usual River was basically naked (He is 2yrs old) so I told him get dressed and lets go take care of the chickens. So we get in the Jeep and head to the barn to get feed and then off to move the chickens. As we pull up to the chicken tractor and get things ready to move them, River wants out of the Jeep and wants my hat and the flag so I give him both and ask him to go to the other side of the chickens and wave your flag to keep the chickens moving forward. He did just that. Then I thought WOW how blessed I am to have a boy that always wants to go with me and be involved in every step I take.

In this moment it made this Dad realize the IMPORTANT things in life. My kids are an inheritance from the Lord and it is my job to raise them up in the ways of the Lord. It is so easy to get our priorities out of line and get caught up in the ways of the world that we end up in a mad rat race. I want my kids to know that God is our number one priority and then comes family. When I get these out of order then life becomes chaos.

  Conclusion

How can we better ourselves as Fathers, Mothers, Grandmas, Grandpas, Farmers/Ranchers? Keep God our number one priority. It isn't easy but he is the one that helps us break through the walls. My challenge to y'all and me as well is get in Gods word meditate on it. I listened to a sermon a couple mornings ago that the way they illustrated meditation was great. Meditating on Gods word is like a sheep eating grass. Sheep have 5 stomachs, when they take a bite of grass they chew on it and then swallow and then they re-gergitate it and chew on it some more. Thats how we need to be withs Gods word.

God Bless,

RH Whitten
